ITV has ordered a second series of the Trevor Eve drama Kidnap and Ransom.

The three-part drama aired on ITV1 in January and met with generally good reviews. It starred Trevor Eve as international hostage negotiator Dominic King and also starred John Hannah, Helen Baxendale and Emma Fielding. ITV has ordered an additional three episodes of Kidnap and Ransom to make a second series of the crime drama. The new three episodes will reportedly focus on Dominic's attempts to try and save a group of tourists who are taken hostage in India.
Kidnap and Ransom was made for ITV by Trevor Eve's own production company who are also making the forthcoming Waking the Dead spin-off, The Body Farm, for BBC One. The new series of Kidnap and Ransom will begin filming in September in South Africa.

Trevor Eve slams BBC 'Who' focus

Trevor Eve has blasted the BBC for focusing its resources on Doctor Who. The actor told The Sunday Times that the corporation is neglecting other series in favour of the popular sci-fi drama. "All they are interested in are spinoffs from Doctor Who and [shows similar to] Doctor Who, like Sherlock," he claimed. The Waking The Dead star complained that Who was receiving "all the budget and all the attention". "It's fine as far as it goes, but Doctor Who is a 40-year-old children's programme," he argued. Eve currently stars in the new ITV1 adaptation of Bouquet Of Barbed Wire.

Trevor Eve to star in new ITV1 thriller

ITV has announced a new three-part thriller series, Kidnap and Ransom, which will star Trevor Eve and Helen Baxendale. Kidnap and Ransom has been written by Patrick Harbinson, who's written episodes of 24, Law and Order and ER, and will film in South Africa this spring. Trevor Eve will play an international hostage negotiator, Dominic King, who gets involved in the case of a businesswoman (Emma Fielding) who is kidnapped in South Africa. But when the release is botched and they strike again in Britain, the motives of the kidnapper, Willard (John Hannah), become far more sinister. With trouble brewing at home with his wife, Sophie (Natasha Little) and teenage daughter - and his team, boss Angela (Helen Baxendale) and ambitious assistant Carrie (Amara Karan) pushed to the limit, King must draw on all his reserves to bring the victims home alive. No word yet on when Kidnap and Ransom will screen.
