IN MY BLOOD
Actor Trevor Eve is delighted to be back on duty as the Cold Case Unit tackle more unsolved murders.
Trevor Eve never cracks a smile while he investigates grisly crimes as Cold Case chief Peter Boyd. But the actor believes Waking The Dead's dark subject matter is the key to it's success. "People love a gory crime story, when it's done well," says Trevor. "And ours are done really well." As the seventh series kicks off, Det. Supt. Boyd and his team - Grace (Sue Johnston), Eve (Tara Fitzgerald), Spence (Wil Johnson) and Stella (Felicite du Jeu) - tackle a tricky case involving DNA. Boyd is intrigued when the DNA of a woman caught on CCTV fighting off a mugger matches evidence discovered at a murder scene in the 1990s. But the detective gets distracted when he receives news about his son, who has been missing for seven years. Trevor believes the show's makers are right to show graphic crimes because it keeps the storiers true to life. "The police deal with life and death all the time, that's why this sort of drama is so gripping," says the actor, 56. "We don't want to be gratuitous, but it is important to show how extreme these acts can be. The world is a shocking place - It's no wonder Boyd is so troubled!" Trevor recently played the title role in The Curse Of Comedy drama Hughie Green, Most Sincerely but he's in no hurry to say goodbye to Boyd. "We're making an eight series later this year," reveals Trevor. "It still feels fresh. There are lots of new places to take Boyd."
